Geospatial Analysis in R
In person workshop at QICSS
August 18,2022 - from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
Dr. Tim Elrick is the Director of the Geographic Information Centre (GIC) at McGill University
This workshop will introduce participants to functions and methods of geospatial analysis in the realm of Geographic Information Science (GIS). Participants start out with descriptive statistics on geospatial datasets. The workshop will continue to introduce participants to point pattern analysis (based on nearest neighbours and density), cluster analysis (Moran’s I based on differently constructed weights), interpolation methods (Thiessen polygons, inverse distance weighting and kriging) as well as geographically weighted regression analysis.
This workshop will allow participants to answer questions in which geographic or geospatial variables, e.g. the location or relational distances of events, play a role in explaining phenomena.
***Everyone registered for this workshop must bring their own laptop.
100$ - Student and postdoctoral fellow
200$ - Staff from a QICSS member university*
